Ms Basra (or Pretty for short) is a consultant optometrist and children’s vision specialist. She has twice been recognised as one of the top 5 optometrists in the UK at the National Optician Awards and is currently completing her doctorate in children’s vision screening at Bradford University.
After graduating in optometry from Aston University in 2008, Pretty began her career at Leicester Royal Infirmary before working in the eye department at the prestigious Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham.
Her life soon brought her to Doncaster and after a number of short term placements, Pretty finally took ownership of Edwards and Walker Opticians in 2015. In addition, Pretty has worked tirelessly to help develop and represent eyecare across all walks of life including trips to Botswana and Zambia to deliver vision aid overseas and training to students who have no access to optometry teaching – an experience which she describes as truly humbling.
Outside of work, Pretty is a mother to three little boys, loves to travel and has a passion for fashion. She also hates chocolate but loves marshmallows and popcorn.
